Sewing and Textiles (16+ yrs)
2 week beginners introduction courses
An introduction to sewing, this two part class will cover the basics of machine sewing and needlework. You will learn different sewing techniques and adding detail and finishes to personalise your pieces. We will work on a couple small projects to help you get started on your sewing journey with confidence.
We will be running short courses in 2 week blocks with different projects so you can progress and continue with addtional classes anytime that works for you.

MEET YOUR TUTOR
Laura McVean
Laura is one of our new tutors and will be leading classes in sewing, printmaking and watercolour, with a focus on reuse and sustainability. She joins us after spending 5 years at Cass Art where she has organised workshops and exhibitions in store.
In 2024 Laura also spent some time in a small school in Cambodia teaching Art classes to High School students, introducing them to new materials, techniques, and the wider history and importance of art in society.
She finds fulfilment in encouraging others to appreciate their own creative talents and see them grow through this.
