A practical introduction to sewing and fashion/costume design.
During this six-week course you will learn how to use a sewing machine and start thinking about working with textiles. You'll use your new skills to create several finished projects.
Activities will include:
Make a cushion cover
Make a tote bag
Fabric painting
Pom pom & tassel making
Embroidery + Appliqué
Transformation challenge: turn an unwanted piece of clothing into something completely different
Whilst everyone will follow the same patterns, there will be ample opportunity for you to put your unique stamp on everything you make. Throughout the course we will be looking at and discussing work that could provide inspiration.
Students will be encouraged to keep a sketchbook and gather their own personal references.
All materials are included in the course price.
