Learn the fundamentals of the core art skills of drawing and painting.

During this six-week course you will experiment with a wide range of wet and dry mediums, from paint to pencil.
Often the edges between the two disciplines will blur (you'll try drawing with paint, or painting with dry mediums).
You will be encouraged to explore different styles, techniques and approaches. Understanding anatomy is crucial to drawing people, so in this jam-packed course we will also learn a little about what’s happening under our skin.

Some of the things we'll be covering include:
• How to use light + shadow to make our pictures look 3D
• Tips to translate what we see in front of us onto the paper
• How to draw the edges of things - sharp or soft, there or not there!
• What is a ‘nice’ line?
• What makes a good composition?
• How to mix colours
• How to stay calm when drawing/painting gets stressful!
• How to cope with & embrace mistakes

Whilst observational drawing plays a vital role, students will be encouraged to work with intuition and self expression.
