Draw creatively staged, beautifully lit life models in our well equipped Submarine studio. 

This course is suitable for both beginners and experienced artists, provides an opportunity to draw the human figure from life, using our professional models.

Generally the classes will start with a few short duration poses, building to a long pose. The short studies that open the class help to train the eye, forcing focus on the essence of the pose rather than the detail. Working quickly like this is a great way to warm/loosen up, and the marks made can be gestural and exciting. The long pose gives you the time to observe the model in detail, and allows you to create a more considered drawing, in terms of composition and complexity.

Knowing your time limit with the model really helps keep concentration levels stay very high during the class. This focus can be almost meditative. Nothing forces you to live more in the present than life drawing!

If you haven't tried life drawing before, as an experience it could be described as: fascinating, exciting, challenging, joyful, peaceful, or intense. It can be all of these things at once. If you have done it before, it needs no further introduction!

COURSE GOALS

On this course you will:

• Gain a better understanding of anatomy.
• Develop your observational skills, and how to get to the essence of a pose.
• Learn different approaches to starting a drawing, and learn when to stop!
